Members Overview

The Dayton Area Graduate Medical Education Community member institutions sponsor 50 physician residency, physician fellowship, and dental residency training programs in the Greater Dayton, Ohio area. Within these programs, approximately 550 residents are training at any given time in seven major participating community teaching medical centers as well as numerous affiliated ambulatory care centers and other local hospitals providing specific clinical experience.

The Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine sponsors the majority of the allopathic residency programs. A small number of programs are sponsored by Kettering Medical Center. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredits all of the allopathic residency programs and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredits all of the osteopathic residency programs, based at Grandview Hospital.  The dental residency programs are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Post-secondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education. Almost without exception, the residency programs and fellowships provide training sites in a number of affiliated member institutions, adding richness to the residency training experience by exposing residents to different hospitals and ambulatory healthcare settings.
